Rogue macros

Rogues are masters of stealth and assassination, using their cunning and agility to strike from the shadows and eliminate their enemies.

20 macros

  • #showtooltip Blind
    /focus [mod:shift]
    /stopmacro [mod:shift]
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Blind

Blinds your focus without touching your current target. Holding Shift instead sets your target as the new focus, so setup and use share one key.

  • #showtooltip Sinister Strike
    /startattack
    /cast Sinister Strike

Guarantees your auto-attacks are running whenever you press your builder. Rogues lose a surprising amount of damage to auto attack quietly switching off after a stun.

  • #showtooltip Adrenaline Rush
    /cast Adrenaline Rush
    /use 13

Fires your damage cooldown alongside your first trinket. Swap Adrenaline Rush for Shadow Blades or Deathmark depending on the specialisation you are playing.

  • #showtooltip Cheap Shot
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Cheap Shot

Opens on your focus target from stealth without giving up whatever you had selected.

  • #showtooltip Cloak of Shadows
    /stopcasting
    /cast Cloak of Shadows

Cancels your queued ability and wipes magical effects off you straight away. Cloak is a response to a debuff that has already landed, so speed is the whole value.

  • #showtooltip Distract
    /cast [@cursor] Distract

Turns enemies at your cursor away from you. Distract is entirely about placement, so removing the reticle step makes it far more usable while stealthed.

  • #showtooltip Feint
    /stopcasting
    /cast Feint

Drops your current ability and takes the damage reduction now. Feint is pressed in reaction to an area attack that is already on its way in.

  • #showtooltip Grappling Hook
    /cast [@cursor] Grappling Hook

Fires the hook at your cursor with no confirmation click. Outlaw uses this as a movement ability constantly and the second click is pure friction.

  • #showtooltip Kick
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Kick

Interrupts your focus target if you have one, otherwise your current target. Rogues are usually the assigned kicker, which makes this the most-used macro in the class.

  • #showtooltip Kick
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Kick

Kicks whatever your cursor is over. In dungeons where the caster changes every pull, hovering is faster than keeping a focus up to date.

  • #showtooltip Kidney Shot
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Kidney Shot

Spends your combo points stunning your focus target. Usually pointed at a healer while you keep building points on someone else.

  • #showtooltip Sap
    /cast Pick Pocket
    /stopcasting
    /cast Sap

Pockets your target and then saps them in the same press, so you get the loot without the pickpocket pulling aggro. Works on anything humanoid worth robbing.

  • #showtooltip Sap
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Sap

Saps your focus target while you keep your damage target selected. Sapping the wrong mob is one of the fastest ways to wipe a group, and this makes it much harder to do.

  • #showtooltip Shadowstep
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Shadowstep

Teleports you behind whatever you are hovering. Being able to pick your landing spot without swapping targets is what makes Shadowstep a mobility tool rather than just an opener.

  • #showtooltip Shroud of Concealment
    /stopcasting
    /cast Shroud of Concealment

Cancels anything queued and drops the group stealth immediately. Shroud is used to skip packs on a timer, so hesitation is expensive.

  • #showtooltip Stealth
    /cast [nostealth] Stealth

Only casts Stealth when you are not already stealthed, so hammering the key cannot accidentally drop you out of it. The classic first macro for any Rogue.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [stealth] Cheap Shot; Stealth

Opens with Cheap Shot while stealthed and stealths when you are not. One key covers approach and opener, which is one less decision during a restealth.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [nostealth] Stealth
    /cast [nocombat,nostealth] Shadowmeld

Stealths if you can, and falls through to Shadowmeld when Stealth is on cooldown and you are out of combat. Night Elf Rogues get a second re-stealth out of this.

  • #showtooltip
    /cast [combat] Vanish; [nostealth] Stealth

Vanishes when you are in combat and stealths when you are not. Both abilities answer the same question — "I need to not be here" — so they belong on one key.

  • #showtooltip Tricks of the Trade
/cast [@focus,help,nodead][@party1,help,nodead] Tricks of the Trade

Hands your threat to your focus target, falling back to the first party member. Set the tank as focus at the start of a run and you can stop thinking about it.

Every class shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
