Hunter macros

Hunters are skilled marksmen and beastmasters, using their keen senses and loyal animal companions to track and eliminate their enemies.

20 macros

  • #showtooltip Aspect of the Turtle
    /stopcasting
    /cast Aspect of the Turtle

Cancels your queued spell and turns on your immunity straight away. Aspect of the Turtle is a reaction to something that already happened, so any delay makes it useless.

  • #showtooltip Binding Shot
    /cast [@cursor] Binding Shot

Drops the stun zone exactly where the pack will be. Binding Shot only triggers when enemies move out of it, so placement is everything.

  • #showtooltip Bestial Wrath
    /cast Bestial Wrath
    /use 13
    /cast Blood Fury

Lines up your damage cooldown with your first trinket and your racial. Swap Bestial Wrath for Trueshot or Coordinated Assault depending on which specialisation you are playing.

  • /cancelaura Aspect of the Turtle

Drops the immunity early. Turtle stops you attacking as well as being attacked, so once the danger has passed you want it gone rather than sitting through the full duration.

  • #showtooltip Counter Shot
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Counter Shot

Interrupts your focus target if you have one, otherwise your current target. Marksmanship and Beast Mastery both use Counter Shot; Survival should swap the name to Muzzle.

  • #showtooltip Disengage
    /stopcasting
    /cast Disengage

Stops your cast and leaps backwards. Standing still to finish an Aimed Shot while something dangerous lands on you is a habit worth macroing away.

  • #showtooltip Feign Death
    /stopcasting
    /cast Feign Death

Cancels whatever you are casting and drops immediately. Feign Death is a threat wipe and a mechanic dodge, and in both cases finishing your current cast first defeats the purpose.

  • #showtooltip Flare
    /cast [@cursor] Flare

Drops the stealth-detection zone at your cursor. In battlegrounds and arenas this is how you find a rogue opening on your healer without having to guess where to click.

  • #showtooltip Freezing Trap
    /cast [@cursor] Freezing Trap

Throws the trap directly at your cursor with no targeting circle. Traps arm on landing, so the extra half-second a reticle costs you is frequently the difference between a trap and a wasted cooldown.

  • #showtooltip Hunter's Mark
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Hunter's Mark

Marks whatever your cursor is over. Because the mark boosts your damage against that unit specifically, it pays to place it on the thing you are about to swap to rather than the thing you are already hitting.

  • #showtooltip Intimidation
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Intimidation

Stuns your focus target through your pet. Useful for locking down a healer or a caster that your interrupt cannot reach in time.

  • #showtooltip Kill Command
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Kill Command

Fires your pet at whatever you are hovering. Beast Mastery presses Kill Command more than anything else, so being able to point it at an off-target add is a genuine damage gain.

  • #showtooltip Master's Call
    /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help][@player] Master's Call

Frees an ally from a movement-impairing effect without targeting them. Master's Call is one of the few dispels a Hunter has, and it is almost always needed on someone else.

  • #showtooltip Misdirection
    /cast [@focus,help,nodead][@pet,exists][] Misdirection

Sends your threat to your focus target, then your pet if you have no focus. Set the tank as focus at the start of a dungeon and this needs no further thought all run.

  • #showtooltip Multi-Shot
    /cast Multi-Shot
    /startattack

Fires Multi-Shot and makes sure your auto shot is running. Auto attack silently stopping is a classic source of missing damage, and adding a startattack line to a rotational button quietly fixes it.

  • #showtooltip Muzzle
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Muzzle

The Survival version of the focus interrupt. Same behaviour as Counter Shot — kick the caster you are watching without ever leaving the target you are attacking.

  • #showtooltip
/cast [nopet] Call Pet 1; [@pet,dead] Revive Pet; Mend Pet

Calls your pet when you have none out, revives it when it is dead, and mends it when it is alive and hurt. Three situations, three answers, one key — replace Call Pet 1 with whichever slot you use.

  • /petattack [@focus,harm,nodead][]
    /petfollow [mod:shift]
    /startattack

Orders your pet onto your focus target and starts your own attack in the same press. Holding Shift instead recalls the pet, which is what you want the moment it runs into a second pack.

  • #showtooltip Tar Trap
    /cast [@cursor] Tar Trap

Places your slowing trap at the cursor. Tar Trap is most often dropped ahead of a pack you are kiting, which means throwing it where you are looking rather than where you are standing.

  • #showtooltip Tranquilizing Shot
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Tranquilizing Shot

Strips an enrage or magic buff from whatever your cursor is over. Buffs to dispel usually appear on adds, so being able to shoot them without a target swap keeps your damage flowing.

Every class shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
