The Lord of the Rings Online macros

LOTRO deliberately does not let you macro combat. There is no /cast, no conditionals and no way to chain two skills onto one key — Standing Stone has kept it that way since launch. What it does have is /alias for naming a command chain and /shortcut for dropping any command onto a quickslot, which between them cover travel, chat, pets, and the ABC music system that the game is quietly famous for.

Setting one up

Type /alias add NAME "command" to create a named shortcut for a command.
Run it afterwards by typing /NAME, or place it on a bar.
Use /shortcut <slot> <command> to put a command on a quickslot — slot 61 is the first slot of the second bar.
Quickslots are numbered from 1, running left to right and then down through the bars.
Aliases are per-character and are saved automatically when you log out cleanly.

Rules and limits

Skills cannot be macroed. There is no equivalent of /cast, and no way to put two abilities on one key.
An alias cannot contain a second alias, so chains cannot be nested.
Only one command per alias — the game has no separator for chaining several commands together.
Aliases are stored per character rather than per account, so a new alt starts empty.
Because combat cannot be automated, everything here is travel, chat, pet control or interface convenience.

Hunters and everyone with a map skill accumulate dozens of travel destinations. An alias per destination is far faster than opening the skill panel every time.

Plays a notated tune from your Music folder. Kinship bands coordinate whole concerts this way, with each player running the same command on a different part.
