Death Knight macros

Death Knights are powerful warriors, risen from the dead and imbued with dark power to command the forces of undeath and spread terror on the battlefield.

24 macros

  • #showtooltip Anti-Magic Zone
    /cqs
    /cast [@cursor] Anti-Magic Zone

Places Anti-Magic Zone at your cursor instantly. Cancels any spell you have queued first so the bubble lands the moment you press the key rather than after your current cast finishes.

  • Asphyxiate (Focus)

    Death Knight

    #showtooltip Asphyxiate
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Asphyxiate

Stuns your focus target without giving up your current target. Asphyxiate is your only hard stun, so being able to land it on a healer while you keep hitting the damage dealer is worth a keybind on its own.

  • #showtooltip Vampiric Blood
    /cast Vampiric Blood
    /cast Rune Tap
    /cast Bone Shield
    /cast Anti-Magic Shell

Fires Vampiric Blood, Rune Tap, Bone Shield and Anti-Magic Shell together. Only Vampiric Blood costs a global, so the rest layer on instantly for a large short-term spike in survivability.

  • #showtooltip Breath of Sindragosa
    /cast Pillar of Frost
    /cast !Breath of Sindragosa
    /cast Abomination Limb
    /cast Raise Dead
    /use 13
    +1 more

Opens your Frost burst window with Pillar of Frost, Breath of Sindragosa, Abomination Limb, Raise Dead and your first trinket. The exclamation mark in front of Breath stops a second press from cancelling the channel.

  • /cancelaura Blessing of Protection

Removes a Blessing of Protection that a Paladin has cast on you. The buff blocks all physical attacks, which also means you cannot hit anything until it is gone — as a melee that is usually not what you want.

  • #showtooltip Chains of Ice
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Chains of Ice

Slows a runner under your cursor without dropping your current target. The classic use is chaining the mob that is sprinting for your healer while you stay on the pack.

  • Control Undead

    Death Knight

    #showtooltip Control Undead
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Control Undead
    /petassist

Enslaves an undead mob under your cursor and immediately sets it to assist you. A handful of dungeons have undead trash worth taking along for the extra damage.

  • #showtooltip Dark Command
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Dark Command

Taunts whatever your cursor is over without changing target. Picking a loose add off a healer while you keep tanking the boss is the whole reason mouseover taunts exist.

  • #showtooltip Death and Decay
    /cast [@player] Death and Decay

Drops Death and Decay directly under you. Because you generally want to be standing in your own Death and Decay anyway, this is the version most tanks end up binding.

  • #showtooltip Death and Decay
    /cast [@cursor] Death and Decay

Drops Death and Decay wherever your mouse is pointing with no targeting reticle and no confirmation click. For Blood and Unholy this is pressed constantly, so removing the second click matters more here than almost anywhere else.

  • #showtooltip Death Coil
/cast [mod:shift,@pet] Death Coil; Death Coil

Spends Runic Power on damage normally, or heals your ghoul when you hold Shift. Unholy Death Knights with a permanent pet get a free pet heal without giving up a bar slot.

  • #showtooltip Death Grip
    /stopattack
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Death Grip

Grips your mouseover or current target and stops your auto-attacks in the same press, so you do not immediately break a crowd control effect on whatever you just pulled to you.

  • #showtooltip Icebound Fortitude
    /cast Icebound Fortitude
    /cast Anti-Magic Shell

Layers Icebound Fortitude with Anti-Magic Shell for a flat damage reduction plus a magic absorb. Neither is on the global cooldown, so both land the instant you press the key.

  • #showtooltip Gorefiend's Grasp
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Gorefiend's Grasp

Pulls everything around your focus target into a pile. Set the mob you want the group to cleave on as focus and this gathers the pack onto it without you having to target it first.

  • #showtooltip Gorefiend's Grasp
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][@player] Gorefiend's Grasp

Centres the grip on whatever is under your cursor, falling back to yourself when there is nothing there. Gripping onto yourself is the safe default when the pack is already on top of you.

  • #showtooltip Howling Blast
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Howling Blast

Applies Frost Fever to whatever you are hovering while you keep hammering your main target. Useful for spreading the disease across a pack without a single target swap.

  • #showtooltip Death Coil
    /cast Lichborne
    /cast [@player] Death Coil

Lichborne makes you Undead, and Death Coil heals friendly Undead instead of damaging them. Lichborne is off the global cooldown, so both fire from a single press. Keep 40 Runic Power spare for it.

  • #showtooltip Mind Freeze
    /cast [@focus,harm,nodead][] Mind Freeze

Interrupts your focus target if you have one set and it is alive and hostile, otherwise interrupts whatever you are attacking. Setting the caster you are assigned to as focus means you never have to swap targets to kick.

  • #showtooltip Mind Freeze
    /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Mind Freeze

Kicks whoever your cursor is over, falling back to your target. Handy in dungeons where the caster you need to stop changes every pull and keeping a focus updated is more trouble than it is worth.

  • Omni-Interrupt

    Death Knight

    #showtooltip
    /castsequence [mod:shift,@focus][] reset=15 Mind Freeze, Asphyxiate

Casts Mind Freeze the first time you press it, then Asphyxiate if you press it again before Mind Freeze is back. Holding Shift sends both at your focus instead of your target. The sequence resets after 15 seconds.

  • Omni-Taunt

    Death Knight

    #showtooltip
/castsequence reset=8 Dark Command, Death Grip

Casts Dark Command, then Death Grip on the next press if Dark Command is still cooling down. Two taunts on one key means you always have something to answer a threat drop with.

  • #showtooltip Pillar of Frost
    /cqs
    /cast Pillar of Frost
    /use 13

Cancels anything you have queued, then fires Pillar of Frost alongside your first trinket so your cooldowns stay lined up without you tracking two separate buttons.

  • #showtooltip Raise Ally
    /cast [@mouseover,help][] Raise Ally

Casts Raise Ally on whoever you are hovering, falling back to your current target. Combat resurrections are usually needed in a hurry and usually on someone you are not targeting, so hovering the corpse and pressing one key beats clicking through raid frames.

  • Sacrificial Pact

    Death Knight

    #showtooltip Sacrificial Pact
    /cast [pet] Sacrificial Pact

Detonates your ghoul for a burst of healing, but only when you actually have one out — without the pet check the button just produces an error message when your ghoul is already gone.

Every class shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
