Make a Macro Loop

A macro that calls its own name on the last line runs forever. This one line is the reason SWG macros are remembered the way they are — and the reason you should always know how to stop one.

Where to paste this

Open Options, choose the Macro tab and click New.
Give the macro a name and an icon — the name is what other macros call it by.
Write commands one per line, ending each with a semicolon.
Use /ui action toolbarSlot00; to press a toolbar button, counting slots from 0.
Finish with /macro yourname; to loop, and drag the macro onto a toolbar slot to start it.

Create an Alias

Aliases wrap a command behind a shorter name and can be called from macros. Useful for anything you type constantly but do not want a whole macro for.
Follow a Player

Follows your current target until you move. SWG planets are enormous and following someone who knows the way is a genuine time saver.
Getting Pauses Right

The minimum is a tenth of a second, but anything under a full second is unreliable under load. Most working macros use two seconds or more between actions.
Invite and Form a Group

Invites your target and then joins. Buff lines and hunting parties both start with this pair of commands.
Loot Everything Nearby

```
Loots the corpse you have targeted. Chained onto the end of a combat macro it turns a grind into something you barely have to watch.
Post to a Chat Channel

SWG separates spatial chat from planet-wide channels. /say is local, /shout carries further, and guild chat keeps your city organised.
Press a Toolbar Button

Drives the interface directly by pressing a toolbar slot. Slots run 0 to 23 — the top row is 0 to 11 and the bottom row is 12 to 23 — which is how macros use abilities they cannot name directly.
