Science macros

The control and exotic damage career, with Sensor Scan, Subnucleonic Beam and Scattering Field. Science captains shut down enemy abilities and deal damage that ignores conventional resistances, which makes them invaluable against heavily armoured targets.

20 macros

  • /bind numpad4 "say Engaging"

The foundation of every bind in this library. The key comes first, the command goes in quotes, and anything you can type into chat can be attached this way.

  • /bind h "team Heals incoming $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 0"

Chains a team message onto an ability so your group sees the call the instant it goes out. Used for heals, tanking cooldowns and anything the rest of the team needs to react to.

  • /alias camp "logout"

Aliases live in CommandAliases.txt in your Live folder and let you wrap a long chain behind a short name. Essential once your binds get long enough to be unreadable.

  • /bind space "+TrayExecByTray 0 0 $$ +power_exec Distribute_Shields"

Balances shields across all four facings. It has no cooldown, so it belongs in every attack bind you own — the difference between a captain who does this constantly and one who does not is enormous.

  • /combatlog 1

Turns on the log that every parser reads. Nothing shows up in your damage numbers until this is on, and it resets more often than you would expect.

  • /bind space "GenSendMessage HUD_Root FirePhasers $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 0"

Adds the actual weapon trigger to your attack chain. Without this line a tray bind fires your abilities but never pulls the trigger, which is a surprisingly common bug in home-made binds.

  • /bind q "+TrayExecByTray 0 0"

TrayExecByTray triggers whatever sits in a given tray and slot, both zero-indexed. Because it names the position rather than the ability, the same bind survives every ship swap and loadout change.

  • /bind space "+TrayExecByTray 2 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 2"

The ground equivalent of the spacebar bind. Ground trays are separate from space trays, so this needs its own bind file if you play a lot of ground content.

  • /bind_load_file mybinds.txt

Reads a bind file back in. Keep one file per ship build and setting up a new character becomes a single command instead of an evening.

  • /unbind numpad4

Hands a key back to its default behaviour, and /unbind_all resets everything. Worth knowing before you start experimenting on movement keys.

  • /bind_save_file mybinds.txt

Writes every current bind to a text file in your Star Trek Online Live folder. Do this the moment a setup works, because a patch or a settings reset otherwise costs you the whole layout.

  • /bind h "team Scattering Field - stack on me $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 4"

Drops your team-wide resistance bubble and tells the group to stack in it. A field nobody stands in does nothing, which makes the call-out the important half.

  • /bind t "+TrayExecByTray 1 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 2"

Fires Sensor Scan and your exotic damage abilities together. Science damage relies on stacking debuffs before the payload lands, so ordering matters more here than for other careers.

  • /bind numpad1 "netgraph 1"
    /bind numpad0 "netgraph 0"

netgraph 1 shows framerate and latency, netgraph 0 hides it. Useful for working out whether a stutter during a big fleet action is your machine or the server.

  • /bind g "team Subnuc landed - push now $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 3"

Strips enemy buffs and puts their abilities on cooldown, announced so the team can push while the target is helpless. One of the strongest single abilities in the game.

  • /bind f1 "TrayShowTray 1"

Changes which tray page is showing. Combined with a bind that also fires an ability, this is how captains build context-sensitive bars that change with the situation.

  • /bind tab "Target_Enemy_Near $$ GenSendMessage HUD_Root FirePhasers"

Picks up the closest hostile and opens fire. In space combat where targets move constantly, having this on a key beats clicking a moving ship every time.

  • /bind space "+power_exec Distribute_Shields $$ GenSendMessage HUD_Root FirePhasers $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 2"

Everything at once: shield distribution, weapon fire, and the first three ability slots. This is what most endgame captains actually have on their spacebar, and it is why the game looks deceptively simple to play well.

  • /bind space "+TrayExecByTray 0 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 3 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 4"

The single most-used bind in the game. One key fires your whole first tray in sequence — anything on cooldown is skipped, so pressing it repeatedly keeps every ability rolling without you tracking any of them.

  • /bind r "throttleadjust 1"
    /bind f "throttletoggle"

Full impulse and full stop bound to adjacent keys. Positioning wins space fights, and reaching for the throttle slider mid-fight does not work.

Other STO careers

Every career shares the same macro syntax, so a good idea usually ports across.
